What is International Friendships (IFI)?
IFI’s mission is to extend life-changing hospitality and friendship to international students out of reverence to Jesus.
International students often struggle with culture shock, stress, and loneliness when leaving their homes to study in the US. International Friendships, Inc. (IFI) is a national organization partnering with local churches, universities, and volunteers to provide life-changing hospitality and friendship to international students. We work strategically to make the world feel at home and extend God’s love globally — right where we are.
Who may participate?
Our programs and activities are open to international students of all nationalities and religions; including visiting scholars. Because our staff person is female most of our activities are for women.
How can International Friendships help you?
Social: International Friendships provides opportunities to meet with our American staff woman who will open her home and heart to you. There are also volunteers willing to practice English, provide meals, and learn about you and your country.
Spiritual: Not all IFI activities are spiritual. There is a discussion group that meets weekly to study the Bible. If you’re interested in the Bible or spirituality, you will find peace.
Physical: IFI in Ann Arbor hosts trips, such as to Wiard’s Orchard. We also provide transportation to local grocery stores and other places. Experience culture and explore the city with friends!
